The Greene County girls track team started their outdoor season Tuesday, March 28 in Earlham with another meet last Thursday.
Tuesday’s meet brought success for the Rams, with Olivia Shannon taking second in the long jump; the 4×100 meter relay team and 4×200 meter relay team each taking third; and Emma Hoyle finishing fourth at shot put and fifth in discus.
High jump – Kaycee Pittman, 4’ 6”, ninth; Lila Osterson, 4’ 4”, 15th.
Long jump – Olivia Shannon, 16’ 6.75”, second; Kamryn Sanders, 13’ 7.5”, 12th.
Shot put – Emma Hoyle, 31’ 8.25”, fourth; Ashlynn Hinners, 27’ 5”, 16th; Emma Ewalt, 23’ 8.75”, 29th.

Audubon Early Bird
On Thursday, the team traveled to Audubon for a girls early bird meet. Olivia Shannon took first place in high jump, with Daniele Madsen taking first in shot put and Hoyle finishing first in discus. Shannon also placed first in the 100 and 400 meter dashes, with the Greene County 4×100 meter relay team taking first, and 4×200 meter relay team finishing in second.
“It was a night highlighted by a strong showing on the throws side of the program. All the throwers had an excellent night. Our freshmen high jumpers started off field events by taking fourth and fifth place,” commented coach Derek Merk.

A meet scheduled for April 4 at Panorama was cancelled due to possible severe weather. The Rams will compete Thursday in Van Meter.
